Smooth Ambler “Old Scout” Single Barrel Bourbon

Smooth Ambler is a boutique distillery from Maxwelton, West Virginia and bills themselves as America’s Premier Artisan Merchant Bottler.  They produce a bevy of spirits including Gin, Vodka, Rum and Whiskey.

Smooth Ambler makes exceptional Bourbon and a couple months ago Whisky Magazine named their Old Scout Single Barrel “Best Single Barrel Bourbon in the World” by an international panel of judges.  This bourbon is aged in barrels for 11 years and has a mash bill consisting of 75% Corn, 21% Rye, and 4% Malted Barley.

We currently have barrel number 2890 which was just bottled on May 6, 2016.  I tasted this Bourbon and totally dug it’s spicy character and found it complex but not a fire breathing dragon for bourbon that’s 107 degrees proof.

How often do you get to try something that has been labeled “World’s Best” and is not a marketing gimmick?  Try a bottle from Seville’s Wine Shop available for $50.99
